RuleBook

Your rulebook is where the game actually becomes playable. You can spend a year refining the rules—and lose players in five minutes if the book is hard to read, hard to use, or won’t stay open on the table.

Most rulebooks are saddle-stitched (center-stapled). It’s a clean, reliable option for shorter books, with page counts typically built in groups of four and usually kept to 48 pages or fewer.

Want the book to stay open during play? Our spiral binding uses thick, flexible plastic so the book lays flat on the table without pages slipping free—great for games that reference rules constantly.

For rulebooks over 48 pages, perfect bound or softcover binding is usually the better fit. And if you’re building something bigger or more premium—RPG core books, campaign books, or art books—hardcover binding delivers the durability and shelf presence players expect.

A rulebook can be perfect on paper—and still frustrate players if it’s hard to read, hard to navigate, or won’t stay open on the table. If people are constantly flipping, squinting, or fighting the binding, the game feels harder than it is. A good rulebook stays readable, opens comfortably, and survives years of reference.

Size + Page Plan

Choose a booklet size that fits your layout and how players will use it—quick reference during play, learn-to-play reading, or deep rules and scenarios. Then set page count and folding in a way that keeps spreads consistent and sections flowing.

Common pitfalls we help prevent: text ending up too small, awkward formats that don’t sit well on the table, mis-ordered pages, and charts split across the wrong spreads.

File Check + Custom Sample

Send your design files and we’ll review trim, bleed, safe zones, and spread alignment—plus rulebook details like headers, page numbers, and diagram placement—so issues don’t show up late in sampling.

We’ll produce a custom sample you can judge in hand (paper feel, print clarity, handling). Once approved, we lock specs and move into mass production.
